The Artist Behind Beautification Solutions: 15 Years of Hand-Painting Los Angeles
Behind every hand-painted mural in Los Angeles is a person with a brush, a ladder, and a plan for a wall that most people would walk right past. At Beautification Solutions, that person is me, Katie. I have been painting murals and hand-lettered signs across this city since 2011.
How I started
I started Beautification Solutions with a simple idea: to contribute to the Los Angeles landscape with art made by hand, not printed by a machine. Fifteen years later, that idea has grown into a studio trusted by museums, design studios, restaurants, shops, and offices across the city. My work sits on walls for names like Mendocino Farms, HomeState, and Heart of Los Angeles, but my approach has stayed the same since day one. I bring the same level of craft to every project, with intention and attention to detail, whether big or small.
Painting as a practice
There is a rhythm to laying color on brick and stucco, adjusting to a surface that fights back, and stepping away to watch a blank wall become something a neighborhood remembers. That patience shows in the final piece. A hand-painted mural or sign holds a depth and detail that a vinyl print cannot match, and it is made to live outdoors in the LA sun for years without fading or peeling, it ages with grace.
A collaborator, not just a contractor
One reason my clients keep coming back is how I work. I partner with architects, artists, and owners rather than handing over a template. That means a design conversation before any paint goes up, a mockup you can react to, and a result that fits your brand and your block. Whether you run a corner cafe in Silver Lake or a growing office in Culver City, my goal is the same: art that belongs to your space, not a stock image stretched across a wall. That process is a big part of why so much of my work comes from referrals and repeat clients.
No wall too big or too small
I have painted everything from a small hand-lettered window sign to a large scale murals exceeding 1,ooo square feet. No project is too big or too small, and that range matters if you are a local business owner who is not sure where to start. Often the work grows with the space. You might begin with lettering above the door, see what a hand-painted look does for foot traffic, and come back a year later for a full interior mural.
Rooted in Los Angeles
I take projects nationwide, but my home is Los Angeles, and it shows in the work. I know the city’s architecture and the way afternoon light hits a west-facing wall. That local knowledge is hard to outsource. When you hire a Los Angeles mural artist who has worked in every neighborhood from Altadena to Venice for 15 years, you are getting someone who has creatively worked with any surprises that might pop up along the way.
